Sunshine Patriots...

Good afternoon, all! Hope everyone is having a great day... please take a moment to read yesterday's post that is just below this one. Also, join the Present Day Patriots fan page on Facebook (now has over 70 fans!) and become a follower on Blogger! :)

At first I wasn't going to post today, but then I remembered a quote of Thomas Paine's that I particularly love. It is from "The Crisis", written during the Revolutionary War prior to the publishing of the infamous "Common Sense" pamphlet. This phrase in particular is a favorite of mine, and highly applicable to America's situation today.

"THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated."

I ask now, will YOU be a sunshine patriot? Or stand by your country, your beliefs, and what you know is right even when the world is against you and those that think like you? As I said yesterday, those who side with big government, "spreading the wealth", and corrupt leadership may have won the most recent battle--health care--but this American Revolution within the hearts and minds of the PEOPLE has just begun.

  1. So all liberals are corrupt and conservatives are pretty little perfect flowers? people ARE standing up for what they believe in. You just happen to be the minority at the moment.

  2. I don't think I stated anywhere that "all liberals are corrupt"--thats a rather large assumption based on what I wrote. And "pretty little perfect flowers"? Really? Not seeing where this metaphor applies.

    And you're right. People ARE standing up for what they believe in. (I never said they were not.) Our government, however, is not listening.
